Introduction to the National Institute of Ceramic Industrial Design (NICID)
One of the first batch of National Industrial Design Institutes announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the only industrial design institute in China dedicated to the ceramics industry.
With the goal of establishing a presence in Dehua, Fujian – the World Ceramics Capital – while serving the entire nation, the Institute achieves comprehensive coverage across the ceramics sector, including daily-use ceramics, architectural ceramics, sanitary ceramics, artistic ceramics, and specialty ceramics. It has established a "1+1+X" ceramic industry design innovation system, with daily-use ceramics as the mainstay, artistic ceramics as a distinctive feature, and architectural and sanitary ceramics, tea sets, and high-tech specialty ceramics as complementary extensions.
In April 2021, the Institute jointly established the Jingdezhen Branch with the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Daily-use and Architectural Ceramics, further expanding its presence in the fields of artistic ceramics and specialty ceramics.
